En automne 2018, suite à la vente de mon entreprise en entretien ménager, La Serpillière, j’ai pris la décision de passer quatre mois en Australie et en Nouvelle-Zélande. 

Mon objectif était de réaliser un de mes rêves: Apprendre à naviguer sur un voilier.

Une fois arrivé à Airlie Beach en Australie, j’ai fais une belle découverte sur le babillard du Whitsunday Sailing Club. Un capitaine de voilier était à la recherche d’un membre d’équipage pour faire une traversée de Whitsunday Islands à Sydney. Trois jours après avoir fais sa connaissance c’était un départ!

Durant cette aventure de deux mois, j’ai appris les aptitudes nécessaires à propos de la navigation du voilier pour traverses des eaux. Par exemple, préparer l'itinéraire de la journée en utilisant le logiciel OpenCPN Chart Plotter Navigation selon la température et la direction des vents.

In the Autumn of 2018, following the sale of my commercial cleaning business, La Serpillière, I decided to spend four months in Australia and New Zealand.

My objective was to fulfill one of my many dreams: learning to navigate a sailboat. 

When I arrived to Airlie Beach in Australia, I discovered the perfect opportunity on the message board of the Whitsunday Sailing Club. The captain of a sailboat was looking for a crew member for his passage from Whitsunday Islands to Sydney. Three days after our first meeting, we were aboard the vessel!

During this sixty-day adventure, I learned the skills pertinent to sailing and making passage. For example, charting our course using the OpenCPN Chart Plotter Navigation Software according to the weather forecast in order to plan for decent seas and favorable winds.
